The Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry was privileged to receive a special invitation from Principal Commissioner of Income Tax-1, Visakhapatnam Shri B Srinivas, (IRS), Shri N Gopi Krishna (IRS) Addl Commissioner of Income tax Range 1&2 Visakhapatnam and Shri PV Seshagiri Rao Asst Commissioner of Income tax Circle-1(1), Visakhapatnam to participate in an interactive seminar focused on the Direct Tax Vivad Se Vishwas (DTVSV) Scheme 2024. This significant event, organized by the Income Tax Department, took place at VCCI Auditorium, Dutt Island, Siripuram Jn Visakhapatnam and attracted key stakeholders from the business community Associations CREDAI, ITAAP, Sea food Export Associations of India, Cloth Merchants Association, World Trade Centre AMTZ, Visakha Goods Transport association, Visakhapatnam Heavy Crane Owner Association, Visakha Container line Association and Visakhapatnam Stevedores Association.
The VCCI team is led by President Mr. M. Sudarsan Swamy, Secretary Mr. P. Rajesh, Treasurer and National President of the Seafood Export Association Mr. G. Pawan Kumar, Mr. G. Shiv Kumar, Past Chairman of CII, Andhra Pradesh along with other esteemed members of VCCI. During the seminar, Mr Sudarsan Swamy President has highlighted the Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme as a ground breaking legislative measure designed to empower taxpayers by offering a structured opportunity to resolve disputes with the income tax department. He noted that this initiative not only alleviates the financial burden on taxpayers but also enhances the efficiency of the judicial system, fostering a more conducive environment for business growth.
In a comprehensive presentation, Principal Income Tax Commissioner Mr B Srinivas elaborated on the eligibility criteria for the scheme, clarifying that all appeals pending as of July 22, 2024, qualify for consideration, regardless of their current status—whether disposed of or withdrawn. This critical provision opens new pathways for timely and effective resolution of tax disputes, significantly benefiting the local business ecosystem. VCCI is dedicated to assisting taxpayers navigating the complexities of this vital scheme and is eager to foster further collaboration with the Income Tax Department for the advancement of the business community in Visakhapatnam. The Chamber urges all taxpayers to take full advantage of the Vivad Se Vishwas Scheme 2024. Importantly, taxpayers must file their declarations by December 31 to benefit from the scheme’s provisions.
