Our Commissioner of Police Shri. Ch. Srikanth garu ips met with members of the Vizagapatam Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other trade bodies at a meeting organised by VCCI on Saturday 24th Sep 2022 in Daspalla hotel, Visakhapatnam. The meeting was conducted by VCCI President Sri R.Satish, Secretary Sri. Rolland Williams and coordinated by Sri. AV Monish row Past President The meeting was organised with the sole intention to create awareness of cyber crime.

The Commissioner was briefed about the 90 years history of VCCI by President R Satish who in his address to the gathering and also briefed on the activities conducted by Chamber with regard to GST, Interaction Meeting With Honourable Minister Shri Amarnath garu, no plastic drive initiative by GVMC Commissioner Shri.Lakshmisha. etc

The Police Commissioner Shri. Ch. Srikanth was addressing a session on cybercrime here on Saturday 24th Sep 2022 and gave a presentation about types of cyber crime happening in the city.

In his presentation he told that Andhra Pradesh stands at the seventh position in the country in recording the number of cybercrimes, Visakhapatnam is leading from the front in the State.

Speaking about the types of crimes usually witnessed in the city, the Commissioner said that abuse over email and social media and being conned by fake loan apps are leading the modus operandi of cybercrime in the city. These are followed by scams like OTP frauds,  B2B frauds, job frauds, online link and KYC frauds and email and social media hacking etc.

He was mentioning about the various crimes committed across India and also presenting live examples happened in our city of destiny. Mr. Srikanth said that a hacking attack occurs across the globe once in every 39 seconds. Of these, 43% of the attacks target small businesses, while the global average cost of a data breach is around $3.9 million, since COVID-19 there is a global increase of cybercrime by 300% including in India and 95% of cyber security breach is due to human error..

He told dial 1930 for any cyber attacks and can complain through the official website : www.cybercrime.gov.in. He told that many people are not aware of cyber-attacks. Now the department are doing some awareness programs to create awareness of cyber attacks.

Our chamber came forward to tie up with the Commissioner of police in creating awareness and providing support through chamber members and others.

VCCI President Mr. Satish and his team handed over a memento on behalf of VCCI to Sri Srikanth Garu, IPS as a token of their appreciation. Youth wing President Ms. Divya Abhilash proposed the vote of thanks.
